Little Get Away

A few of you asked where you could find the name frames. The website is http://www.emilyschocolateblue.blogspot.com. ; )

A few weeks ago Jason cooked up a trip to Vegas. We love to travel, so I didn't hesitate to say "yes!" We're crazy, I know. Our friends Clint and Ashley went with us. They are wonderful and so comfortable to be around. They knew this wasn't going to be a "haha funny" trip, but more of a "laid back let's get away" trip.

It was much harder than I thought it would be. I missed Z a lot. Safety and security for me right now comes in the familiar things of life, but it was a nice change of pace seeing the sights and taking it in all the grand buildings. Don't worry, all the card playing we did was a game of hearts in our hotel room. ; )

We rode some crazy rides at the top of a building. This one is Big Shot and shot us straight up in the air. I just shut my eyes and hoped for the best.

I'm really not a thrill seeker like Jason, but I loved these swings (over nothing).

One night we went to see Cirque de Soliel at the Bellagio. Very entertaining!

Meanwhile, Zach had a wonderful time with his Uncle Andy.

Don't worry, Jason's parents also helped take care of Z. ; )

In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit Himself intercedes for us with groans that words cannot express.

Romans 8:26

Hello sweet family,
I haven't commented in a while, but that doesn't mean that I haven't been lifting your sweet family up in prayer. It is always hard to leave my little man when I work on Sunday and Monday nights, but it does allow me to focus on different things in my life. I'm glad you and your husband had some time together. Husbands are wonderful! And so are friends! We send our love and prayers to you and your family!

I'm so glad you got to get away and just relax. I LOVE thrill rides, but I don't think I have enough guts to ride those swings over nothing. Have seen them on TV and not too sure...LOL

My name is Leslie, and I've been reading your blog for just a little while now. I am praying for you and your family. I am also awed at the faith and peace you have through this trial. I know it comes from above, and I am thankful God is with you all the time. Thank you for the blessings I have received through reading your blog.

Hi Katie!

You don't know me, but I have been praying for you since I heard of your story on Kelly's Blog. I thought I would check in today to see how you were doing. I was shocked when I saw a familiar face on your blog! I knew Clint Smith when he was in Mobile, AL at Dauphin Way Baptist Church. What a small world we live in! He won't know me by my married name (Tonya Roberts), but he should remember my maiden name (Tonya Dreher). Anyway, just had to share! Thought that was pretty cool! Like I said...small world!!! I continue to pray for you and your family often! I am amazed at your strength which can only come from the Lord!

Blessings!
Tonya

You don't know me, but I read your blog often. I have grieved with you over your loss and am encouraged by your words. It is so evident that you have strong faith. This morning in Sunday School we sang a song called Isaiah 43. You can google it on youtube. I thought you might find this passage very encouraging.

I am usually a silent visitor. I just wanted to say good for you. Little get aways are great. I have a hard time leaving my kiddos too.

Looks like ya'll had a great time on your little get away. Those rides look great, although I'd never get my husband on any of them!

I think my favorite picture though was Zach on the Harley. What a hoot!!

Still praying.......

Katie - so glad to see you and Jason on a little trip. I know Reese didn't leave your minds for a minute but I'm happy to see smiles on your faces and thankful for friends who you can just "be" with.
Praying for you!

Bless your heart. You've been gone on vacation, and still have time to visit blogs and say hi? You are an amazing woman of God. I'm still praying for your family. Tonight, when my kitchen was so messy and covered in sticky rice from dinner, I remembered you and thanked God for kids to mess up my kitchen. : )
Girl, I'm right there with you. I lost a baby (miscarriage) at the end of August, and it's totally not the same, but I remember you everyday when I get sad. Your words minister to me too.
I'm just thinking about you as I clean closets-what are you going to do? (totally rhetorical). Please feel all of us as we pray for you-we don't understand perfectly, but we care. Your name is on our lips, and God hears.
And, I'm so glad to see you with a smile and enjoying yourself. Live for the sweet child you have-he is precious. : )

Hi Katie,
We are friends of Ashley and Clint's from Houston and from their former church. I found your blog from Kelly's Korner and when Clint was facebooking asking for prayers for you and Reese. I've not commented before, but have been reading your blog and saying a prayer for you each time I read and you come to mind. It was fun seeing their 3 and your Z in your boat pics and now seeing Ash and Clint in your Vegas pics. I know you know this, but people you don't know are touched by your witness and pray for you often. Please give yourself, Ashley and Clint a big hug from Texas.

Rgds,
Carole E.

I'm glad you had a nice trip! I've heard about those rides on top- they were featured on an extreme ride tv show!

Hi Katie. Your pictures of the getaway are great. I would be a bit scared of the ride that was clearly very high on top of a building??! I have never been to Vegas, but would love to go someday! Your little Zach looks like he was having a good time. Little boys (and big boys) and their motorcycles! Have a great day.

You are such a beautiful couple! You are a testament to "Walking your Faith Out!" Amazing...God's Grace is Amazing!

Here's some Bible Verses I thought I would share. I love this version from "The Message."

If you don't know what you're doing, pray to the Father. He loves to help. You'll get his help, and won't be condescended to when you ask for it. Ask boldly, believingly, without a second thought. People who "worry their prayers" are like wind-whipped waves. Don't think you're going to get anything from the Master that way, adrift at sea, keeping all your options open. James 1:5-8

The Bible says laughter doeth good like a medicine, and I'm glad you're laughing, even though your heart aches.

It looks like a good time was had, that's great!

I really like your clothes, you put yourself together really well!

Take care!

You are radiant in all the pictures! What a brave soul to go on those rieds! sheesh!!
Hope the days are getting easier, you are on my mind throughout the day, so I stop and pray for you often! I know God will make His purpose for your suffering known to you and Jason.
My sweet "special" girl is almost 12 now, after surviving a brain injury at 8 months old. I thought I would never be happy again, but, it is amazing to see how God uses our hurts and disappointments to draw us closer to Himself!
Keep trusting HIM, He loves you like no other!

by the way....
*can you tell me what type of rings you use for the blessing rings? Do you just tie ribbon on?

We love Vegas! We aren't the gambling type either, but the hotels, food, and shopping are great! :)

Looks like you guys had a fun getaway and for the record, you are WAY BRAVER than me - there is no way I could get on those swings! LOL

((HUGS))

Wow - your brave ! Jason tried to get me on those rides when we were there last winter and I chickened out - then again the wind was blowing like 40 mph and it was about 40 degrees - glad you and your Jason had a good time - have a great weekend

Oh my goodness...did you ride the stuff at the top of the Stratosphere!? Me & my husband are from Arkansas, but moved to Vegas 2 years ago to be closer to his family. Everytime I pass that place I think to myself "Whoever rides that, must be nuts!" I think I would pass out if I ever went up there.

On another note, I love your blog & I'm so sorry for the loss of your sweet baby girl. We are expecting our first (a boy) the end of December, early January after trying for 2 1/2 years. My twin sister is expecting her first (a boy too!) 2 months after me. I can't imagine what ya'll are going through, but you seem like such a strong, christian family. I know God will bless you. You & your family are in my prayers.

Bon :)
