Strong Genes & Link

Look familiar? This is Jason's dad when he was 16 months old. We think Colson kind of looks like him. ; )
This is Jason when he was 3 years old. See Zach? I do! Those Rowe genes are strong. Handsome boys!

The link to Reese's story is up, and I'm so happy. It just feels right and hopefully will clear up some questions about our daughter. My prayer is that our family can shed some light on what it's like to lose a child and the hope we have in Christ.

The LORD has used so many of you to show His faithfulness. Thank you!

Oh, that we might know the LORD! Let us press on to know Him.

I see them both! I've always though Colson favored Jason's younger brother a bit.

Love love these old pics and I love that your boys look like their daddy and grandaddy!

Since you mentioned Reece, I thought I would mention a friend of mine who just lost her second baby girl. She is amazing and so strong in her faith...maybe saying hi would help connect her to someone else to has experienced such loss. Her latest post is really touching

Reese's story is absolutely heartbreaking yet beautiful at the same time. I wrote this probably a few years ago, but I came to your blog from Kelly's Korner in the wee morning hours shortly after you had Reese. I had my little girl not quite 2 weeks before Reese was born, and she was so colicky and I was having a rough time. But Reese and her story were able to give me the right perspective, and I learned to appreciate those trying moments knowing that somewhere out there another mom would give anything to be having those. So thank you for sharing your story. I think about your sweet girl so often!

I just read Reese's story and watched her video.
My heart is overflowing. She is beautiful, Katie! I love her little white dress with the sweet flowers on it. I'm so sorry that this is your reality. I'm so glad that your faith is so strong. Hugging you from afar!

Katie- Reese's story is beautifully written. You did an amazing job writing about her sweet days here on Earth and what joy and hope there is in the fact of getting to see and hold her again! The video is a touching memory of her, I cried my eyes out, it goes straight to the heart. In fact, I had a trying day with Parker today and it completely put my day and attitude into perspective. It's like God needed me to watch/read this tonight. Thank you for sharing this! Love you!

I think about you and your sweet baby girl often, ever since I found your blog around the time she was born. Your posts about your faith always seem to touch me and make me think harder about my own. Reading your story about Reese really reminded me to be a better mother because getting to have my two precious boys here with me is a great blessing I need to not take for granted. Your story about Reese is so touching, and the beautiful pictures you have of her touch my heart every time I see them.

You had your stroller near you with Colson in it. I was thirlled to reconise you and I can remember when you had posted about the MOPS meeting, anyway, it was nice to see you both on TV! I read the story of Reese yesterday. Such a sad story, however, since discovering your blog 2 years ago it has made me stop and take more time with my kids!

Beautiful family Katie, I enjoy reading your blog :)

Katie, I am popping in again to say one more thing. A favorite picture of mine that I keep on my desk is of me and my grandson, Collin, on my birthday, August 13, 2009. I love it because we are both laughing (he was 2 1/2). Now I think of you and Reese and how while we were laughing, you were broken hearted. Your story gives us pause at how fragile and precious life is and how only Christ can make any lasting or meaningful difference. Thank you for sharing so well. Other than my daughter's blog, yours is my favorite! :)

Yes, I can definitely see it! Those genes ARE strong. And you have such handsome boys...cute, cute, cute. I feel for you when they're in high school...you're going to have to beat the girls off with a stick. HA!

The picture of my dad is on my phone and when Westin scrolls through my pics he always says, "Colson!". They really do look alike!

After I read your post, I went in to see Reece's page and I just have to tell you about it.

As I was reading, my youngest son who just turned 5 came down and was looking at the pictures over my shoulder, asking me who people were on the sidebar and what I was reading.

When I watched the video, he asked about Reece and I explained that she was now in Heaven. During the video, he rubbed his eyes and noted that the song was very sad, but he kept watching. At the end I asked him if he had any questions, and he responded, "Yes. Just one. Is that baby girl healthy now that she's in heaven?"

Side note: This year we did a lot of donations to children's charities and I involved the boys a lot and they really seemed to understand that there were kids out there who really needed things so much more than we need toys. When I responded to him that in Heaven we are all perfect and healed, he smiled and went back to playing. After I gave him huge hugs and kisses, of course.

Wow um yeah Jason's genes are def showing through in your boys but I will say I see a bit of Colson more and more in you each day! That link about Reese is amazing! I remember when Kelly told us you were going into labor and I have followed along ever since. I am so glad we have become such good friends yet I wish it was under different circumstances. I always think of Reese and of you and your family as well. She has become a part of me. You know I always let off balloons to send to heaven on dates that remind us of her, when I see a crepe myrtle tree I say a prayer for you, the color red is always a key to remember you and Reese, and just recently as I was at the Cancer Center getting chemo I thought of you and Reese and prayed. She has touched my heart so much as well as you!

xoxo
