3 1/2

Zach is 3 1/2 years old today. Wow. He acts and talks so grown up but is still my little boy. He has a gleam in his eyes, and a mischievous smile. I'm so proud of him! He is in such a sweet phase right now, and I'm holding onto every minute of it.
I love what Z is saying these days and how he says certain words, so I've made a list so I will always remember. ; ) He speaks very well (and constantly!) but has some words that he has definitely made his own.
Vitninin - Vitamin
Nake - Snake
Bwanklet - Blanket
Epod - Ipad
Feeduwer - Four wheeler
Wook - Look
Slinky - Swinkly

I'll be sad when he starts saying these correctly. ; )
The other night he was so tired he told me, "I've run out of batteries."

He loves to say, "I'm busy." I guess he hears this a lot (about us describing him). ; )
"Not boss me around" is a response Jason gets sometimes when he tells Z to do something.

He frequently asks "Why?" when we ask or tell him to do (or not to do) something. A few days ago when he said this to me, I gave him my serious mom face. He thought a few seconds and then said, "Yes ma'am Mom!" He didn't know what he was saying yes ma'am to, but he knew it was a perfect response. Ha! Those words were sweet to my ears because he did it all on his own.
When I was pregnant with Colson, the workers at the gym asked Zach what his baby brother's name was. When he answered it sounded like "Toaster" so now this is what they call Colson. Not a bad nickname! Too funny.
We are so thankful for our firstborn son. He's rambunctious, smart, tender hearted, and loud. He keeps me young, too. Ha! I don't know what we would do without him!
We love you, Zach!

From the fullness of His grace we have all received one blessing after another.

oh my word, you all are too precious. I am a long-time reader but just now commenting. Your three children are so precious. Absolutely amazing. You have such grace, faith, and class, you amaze and inspire me. Thank you. What beautiful pictures of your son. Children are such treasures, aren't they? Thank you for the way you write. Honestly, you should write a book. You are so gentle and true.

So, so sweet! Love that you recorded the words that he says so you'll always remember that.

I think I might "borrow" the phrase "I've run out of batteries." Too cute!

He looks so grown. I know what you mean about their own little words. Hadley wanted me to take her to the movie "feeder" where the movies live. I was also sad when she stopped calling her school "Ursuwine Academy" in favor of the correct pronunciation, Ursuline Academy.

Um I don't know who you are slletich but what you just said about my sweet friend is so uncalled for and ungodly! I cannot believe that you would come on someone's sweet blog who has obviously been through so much and say such horrible things about her children especially Reese and that remark that was made was crude, horrible and just makes me really mad. I am sure I am feeding your unkindness by responding but this was just to much! Katie do not listen to what this crazy person said she is obviously wanting some sort of attention....boo to you lady for even saying anything...now you have sweet sums mad and I never say bad things to anyone...so instead of saying to you what I want to I am gonna pray for your mean heart instead.

I love the words they make... Brayden calls Connor "Taun". Not sure that one will ever go away.

Love his own version of those words. My son Lincoln says "who who" for four wheeler. We think its hilarious and I am going to miss these cute words as well.

I found your blog by accident some time ago...before Colson was born and have loved, loved, loved reading it regularly. You're such a blessing to people you don't even know. Thank you for sharing your life with us. Every post makes me smile in some way. Even when you share your sorrow, I'm amazed at your grace & trust in the Lord. I have an almost 3 year old too and a baby girl and I can so relate to much of what you live and share. This post made me think of all the things my little boy says his own and I too will be sad when he says them correctly someday! (Boo to his daddy who often tries to teach him the correct way. ;) I need to write them down too! May the Lord continue to bless you richly!

Toddler sayings are so fun! My daughter said, "Mom, could you do me a favorite?" I don't have the heart to tell her its wrong!!!! Kids thoughts are funny. There is nothing like seeing life through the eyes of a child. She is 3.4 years.

What a great post! He is such a handsome little (big ;) boy! :) Isn' it the cutest when they misprounce things? Manuel used to always say, "yooking" (instead of "looking") and one day when he said it correctly, I almost cried! :)

Have a great weekend! :)

Oh my word, he is so cute! I know how you feel. There are things that Cilla says incorrectly, but they are just part of what makes her her! I will be so sad when she outgrows that!

He is so precious.... but the "Don't boss me around" is the winner. He will be so independent when he grows up.

How sweet! I have all of my kids' sayings written down and we still talk about them often! I had to chuckle about the "toaster." When I was pregnant with my son, people asked my daughter what his name was and she always told them Shoelace. We couldn't come up with names so we asked her help and she wanted to name him after her fish, which she also named herself. Thankfully, we did not name him Shoelace!

He is so cute! I love that he called Colson "Toaster." Hilarious. Yes, write down all these cute things because before you know it he will be saying all those words correctly. My son is 7 now and he used to call electricity, electricery. That was my favorite and I never corrected him! ha!

He is so funny!!! I love hearing what other little boys say at this age! Ryan turned 4 in March - and he just recently started saying to me, "Hello. Mr. Lady!" Haha! He says it when he's annoyed or when he's trying to make a point to be heard! He'll say, "Excuse me, Mr. Lady!" or "OK, Mr. Lady!" OMG it cracks me up!!! Just had to share!
