Reese's Trees

are blooming. ; )
The white ones bloomed first,

then the pink one
which represents Reese.

Jason and his dad planted five crepe myrtles along our driveway the week after Reese went to Heaven. They worked hard all day (J wouldn't even let me out of the house). He wanted to surprise me. Sweet man! I'll never forget the first time I walked out the door and saw these beautiful trees lining our driveway. It's like they were always meant to be there.
August 2009

New blooms. New life. I love each one, and if we ever move we are taking all five trees with us!

Therefore we do not give up; even though our outer person is being destroyed, our inner person is being renewed day by day.

2 Corinthians 4:16

His timing is always perfect. I love that they will be blooming when Colson arrives shortly. Thanks for sharing with us. I too though that was a perfect gesture, and the trees are beautiful. They make my heart happy :) Still thinking of you and praying for you in NC!

So glad we got to see the blooms. Mine are blooming here too, and I think of you everyday (not like I need help in that department though!)

So glad you posted that particular verse today. You don't know how much I needed to be reminded of that today - read it in your blog early this morning, looked up and read the whole passage a little later, and have pondered it all day. Thanks for being a messenger when you didn't even know it!

Love you, and as always, praying for you ~ Kelley

They are beautiful. We planted a tree for each of our children when they were born. When our third was born, we knew we wanted a 4th and the trees were sent in groups of 2. Well, we planted both and prayed for that 4th child. We lost another angel but after that due to health issues we decided to find our peace with three. God has carried us through the very sad times. That 4th little tree was ran over by a person who mowed our lawn (trying to help) when I was undergoing surgery and chemo for a liver tumor. It was then mowed over by new neighbors who was being yard greedy...they mowed over it a couple of times and my Audrey (3rd child) tree. The 4th tree was mowed over so much that I didn't see it and ran over it with our push mower.
I took it as a sign that 3 was the perfect number.
But I was quite protective of the other 3 trees when the neighbor decided to get a riding mower and kept running into or over 2 of the 3 trees.
I felt emotional but I was really upset. They were/are special trees to me. Finally my husband helped him (the neighbor) to understand that they were not JUST trees.

And the 4th tree decided to show how mighty and strong it is...so now i call it our "hope tree". I love watching the trees grow.

Sorry for rambling, it was just lovely to read about somebody close to special trees as well. I just wish that Reese was there to get her picture taken next to them every year.

i love that Katie...precious. I love trees and I love that yall have those for her. In response to your question about the adoption. We already know b/c we can specify boy or girl. You don't have too, but you can if you want. So, we are requesting a boy...age 6-12 months. That is the smallest you can request in Rwanda. See you soon!

My heart is both sad and rejoicing with you this morning. Thank you for sharing the beautiful trees, what a great reminder that God makes beauty from ashes. I am heading out of the country for two weeks on a mission trip, but don't you think I won't be praying for you on both July 7th and July 8t. I can't wait to return and see some pictures of your sweet baby boy! Blessings today and may God guard your heart against fear and doubt but fill it will praise and joy!
