Believe

I really enjoy these poems/stories sent to me. Thank you! I love this...

We know today that baby Reese is seeing God clearly now, face to face, her view unobstructed by the haze of this life. She's missing no one. She's lacking nothing. Her days are infinite, and her body is completely whole. Her company is a crowd of believers that will only grow with time.

I know you already miss her deeply. She's left a hole in many lives. So we mourn that death exists, robs, surprises, and perplexes. We mourn a mother without a baby to rock and a dad who'll never see his daughter grow.

We believe God though.

We know that His plan has always included Reese's death. It plays a key role, somehow, in bringing fame to Himself, bringing the image of God into greater focus, and putting our lives under examination in light of our mortality.

God is up to something.

Always.

He is keeping His promise to you and Reese tonight, the promise of an eternal home, a lasting peace, a crown to lay at the feet of Jesus, a place to worship and delve deeper into the vast knowledge and love of Jesus.

So we celebrate.

This is not the end of her life, merely a transition to life at its fullest, without boundaries and body and cares and fears.

Your baby is home.

But we do not want you to be uninformed, brethren, about those who are asleep, so that you will not grieve as do the rest who have no hope.

I Thessalonians 4:13

  1. Hi Katie!

Just stopping by to check in on you and let you know that I am still praying!

A local pastor in my area recently discovered he had a brain tumor, and his faithfulness is nothing short of amazing, just like yours. As I was looking for news today of his recovery (after brain surgery), I found this video of him, and felt that it was humbling to see a man facing such fear and anxiety and sadness be so strong and faithful in his love for the Lord. It reminded me of you, and I wanted to share this little inspiration because it's people like you, and this pastor, and so many others who are inspirations to me!

  6. Katie - Where would you be without that hope? It is hard to wrap your thoughts around the fact that Reese is HOME. So amazing isn't it? As Christmas draws closer, I am praying for the void that surely must be in your heart. She will be celebrating with a babe born in a manger who is no longer a babe.

  15. Oh Katie, if I lived anywhere near you, you could bet I'd be all over decorating your Christmas tree! I love it that much! I even decorated my MIL's on Sunday! But, you have a pretty talented family member who does a really good job at that decorating thing too! (Probably more than 1, but Shannon is all I know) :)

  19. Oh my goodness, I think my heart just stopped beating for a moment. That is heartbreaking and beautiful at the same time. I know that GOD has used Reese to touch so many...I am just one of the few that she has touched. I know that you continue to miss her, and always will, but at least there is some comfort knowing that she is whole and she is HOME! I continue to pray for you and your family!

  20. Okay Katie - I just hopped over here to say...Oh.MY.GOSH...You left a comment on MY blog? My lowly little blog? I feel honored that you even read it, but more honored that I am a part of an amazing team of women praying you through this time! You are such a beautiful woman and I praise God that He continues to give you strength right when you need it! Honestly, you made my day by leaving that comment. Have fun when you do venture out to take Z to see Santa!
