Big

These past few days have been full of big things...for Jason and me at least.
; )

Thursday Jason flew us to Little Rock as a family for the first time. I have flown with him several times, but Z never has. It was a lot of fun and took us less than one hour to get there. Jason told me I was the co-pilot. Scary!

Our little fam
He has worked several years to get his private pilot's license. I am so proud of him!
Zach chilled in the backseat saying, "Airplane" over and over.

Friday morning I had my final evaluation with the neurologist who was my main physician in May when I was sick. This is one of those appointments I had been dreading. Although he already knew what happened with Reese, I knew we would be discussing her medically and possible reasons for her condition. I left with more unanswered questions and anxious about future babies, but GOD is just going to have to work all of this out in my heart.

I have no doubt GOD used this man and his team to save my life, and they did everything in their power to protect Reese. I just hope I never have to see him inside a hospital again!

Friday afternoon we flew to Memphis for Jason's big half marathon. I met a precious friend Kelley at Spaghetti Warehouse for dinner. Kelley and her husband Mark drove three hours so we could meet! It was amazing. The Holy Spirit uses this blog world in mighty ways.

GOD brought Kelley into my life when Reese was born, and we have been in touch ever since. She is still faithfully hanging in there with me (like so many of you). ; ) She has poured truth and life into me and challenged me from GOD's Word. Last night she encouraged me that GOD never says "No" to what He has already promised. I am holding onto His promise of complete joy. This sounds so foreign to me now, but it is what I hope for in our future.

Me & Kelley

She painted this portrait of Reese and me. The picture I took doesn't do it justice. It will always be a treasure in our home.
Race day!

Jason ran the St. Jude Memphis half-marathon this morning with several friends. They have been training for months and did a wonderful job!
The crazy runners. ; ) I'm jealous because I used to be one of them. Since I've been pregnant these past few years, all I can manage to do is walk and run a little. ; )
On your mark, get set, go!
I ran into my cousin David at the race. He is six months older than me, and I wish we lived closer together. I loved seeing him and his precious son Silas. Breanna his wife ran the marathon this morning.
Happy to have crossed the finish line and have their medals...maybe a little sore and tired, too. ; )
On the way to our car, a sweet woman stopped me because she has been reading about Reese and our family on my blog. I loved meeting her and her friends! It was an honor. I don't want to share her name in case she would prefer me not to. ; )

She blessed my heart and made my day!

Thank you again for your sweet words and prayers. GOD is using you to constantly encourage and love on us. Your prayers are making a big difference in our lives.

Therefore my heart is glad and my tongue rejoices;
my body also will rest secure, because You will not abandon me...

Psalm 16:9-10

  1. WOWWWW...what a weekend Katie! It is amazing how God has used the blogworld to literally bring people into your life face to face. I'm thankful that so many people are speaking truth and loving on you wherever you may go! Go Jason too..I know he worked hard. I wish I weren't such a sloth right now. I wish I could fly a plane too....the odds of me running are about as great as me flying...I need to remedy that! Love you sis.

  7. What a fun weekend!! How great that Jason has his pilot's license. This is kind of funny but I get nervous when I fly with Todd and he flies hundreds of people every week for American. Not that he's a bad pilot, he's been there 15 years, I'm just a chicken :)

  9. How great that Jason is a pilot...that makes trips convienent. I didn't realize that you being sick may have been a factor with Reese. That must be really hard. I do appreciate your posts and how real you continue to be with your emotions. I continue to pray for peace that surpasses understanding AND for complete Joy that only the Lord can give.

  29. Your post today brought Hebrews 12:1 to mind "Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a GREAT CLOUD OF WITNESSES, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles, and let us run with PERSERVERANCE the RACE MARKED OUT FOR US." Katie, it's SO AMAZING and encouraging to hear how this cloud of witnesses extends to the far corners of the world, as you have witnessed! God is so good. *hugs*

  37. What an awesome time it sounds like you had. Congrats to your husband for running for St. Jude's!!! A great cause as we all know! One of my running buddies flies there each year to run it. She always comes back with great stories...a fun race, just like your pics show. Don't worry you will get back into running in time. Between your husband and your dad as you mentioned in a previous post there is no way you will escape it for long:) Did Jason run it wearing those footie things instead of shoes? Ha!
    Peace.
    Susan
