Lists

I'm a list maker. Sometimes I love my lists and sometimes I don't.
Some people say they don't make lists, and I have no idea how they do it. I have an ongoing list on my phone, one in my calendar, and the app Shopshop on my phone. Even with all my groceries on the app, I will go to a store and leave one hour and $75 later and forget what I came for in the first place! Ah!

When Jason and I got married we started talking about our 6 month, one year, 5 year, and 10 year goals. Big and small. We sit down every six months and go over them and make new ones. It's been fun to see what we've done and what's important to us at different times in our lives.

So when I saw this little idea in Parenting magazine I thought it would be fun to try. It was an article about resolutions and solutions. The resolution was to spend more time with your family. The solution was to make a list of the five things that matter most to you, then make another one of how your time's spent.

Chances are the lists won't match up, but the idea is to identify areas of your life you want to work on with time. The closer you can make the lists, the closer you are to your goal.

So here's my list of things that matter most to me:

1. Living out my faith
2. Jason, our boys, and our immediate families
3. My friends
4. Exercise/Tennis
5. Having an peaceful organized home

How I spend my time:
1. Zach & Colson
2. Zach & Colson
3. Zach & Colson
4. Jason
5. Exercise/Tennis

I hope I live out my faith in all I do, but this is our life right now. Everything else is still on my list just pushed down a bit.
This is my clean organized home. Ha! At least we are having fun, and that's so important, too.

Give this a try when you have a minute! It's not as easy as you may think. ;)

Give thanks to the LORD, to Him who alone does great wonders, His love endures forever.

Friday

This week we have just taken it easy. Zach hasn't been feeling too well so I've gotten lots of cuddles. It's just about the only time he sits still!
I love everything about this picture. Their smiles, Colson's belly, Zach's arm around him. I wish time could stand still minus the brotherly fighting. ; )

                                For the word of the Lord is right and true;
He is faithful in all He does.

Funny Boys

*The Razorback cake in my last post came from Upton Girl's Cakery. So cute!

Don't you just love a nice surprise during your day? Lately a few friends have texted or called just to say they are thinking of Reese. This always means more than they will ever know. So if the LORD has brought someone to your mind tell them! You never know how you can change the course of their day. ; )
These boys make me laugh. They are best friends and fight like it, too. Zach's old crib bumpers have turned into a boat. ; )

It's very normal at our house during the spring and summer to hear Zach say, "Let's get naked!" Ha! Scary, huh? Thankfully he just means himself and Cols. ; )

Growing up I always heard the phrase "naked as a jaybird." Have ya'll heard this? Well, I guess now I say it because the other day Zach told Colson he was "naked as a jay board."

Hope you're having a good Tuesday!

Who is there who speaks and it happens, unless the LORD has ordained it?

This & That

Hi friends! Oh my goodness I've missed blogging! The past few nights I've been up too late doing who knows what and haven't had any energy to post. ; )
This weekend I went to another wedding shower for Andy and Jessica. It was a Razorback theme. Isn't the hog veil cute?
Andrew has clothespins on his shirt for a game (if you are wondering!).
Jason and some friends did a Primal Challenge. He did great. I told him just to go ahead and let me know how it was so I can do it next year. ; )
I met a sweet new friend Katie for lunch yesterday. She was in the area for a class and wanted to meet. I met her mom at the Hope Mom's retreat (she helped take care of the hope moms new babies). Both of these women have beautiful hearts, and I'm so touched by their compassion for women who have lost babies.
If the sun is out our boys are outside playing and riding bikes and driving these vehicles around with the neighborhood kids. It's so fun and at the same time I have no idea how we've reached this point!
Last night Jason and I went to a birthday party for one of our friends. Kelly's husband had the idea for everyone to wear hats to "tip our hat" to her. Some hats were crazy like a pharaoh headpiece. I haven't worn a hat since college so it was fun.

God bless their amazing Sunday school teachers! I'm so thankful they pour GOD's truth into their lives each week.

The LORD is good to those who wait for Him, to the person who seeks Him.

This Week So Far

We are loving this warm weather! The boys are living the life playing outside and eating popsicles. ; )
Both boys went to the dentist, and it was Colson's first time to go.
There's all sorts of fun things for kids, and he did great.
This past year Zach has been telling me he doesn't like Reese's flowers. So yesterday the boys picked out spring flowers for her vase. It was really sweet, and they mainly went for the daisies. Lots of colors!
Tonight was Zach's PREXLR-8 (choir) end of the year performance. Everyone was supposed to wear pjs, but Zach is kind of funny about this. He won't wear them anywhere except at night at home. Oh well! It was still cute. ; )

Rest in the LORD, and wait patiently for Him.

"New" Kitchen Table

Just like with Zach's room I have wanted to get my hands on my kitchen table for awhile, so this weekend Trish and I painted it white. I love it!

This table was a wedding gift almost 11 years ago. It was white and light wood. Several years ago Shannon and I painted it black. It was tough because we had to sand down the table and all four chairs. Ah!
So I went into this little project knowing I couldn't possibly mess this it up Especially with the boys it's been through a lot.

It was chipped on the top in several places so Cam sanded it down. Other than wiping everything down that's the only prep we did. That's what everyone loves about this paint who uses it!
We used Annie Sloan chalk paint and wax. The color was Old White and the wax was clear. We put three coats of paint on everything. Then we waxed everything once then just the table and chair seats two more times. I was very pleased with the paint and SO thankful for Trish helping me.
It brightens up our kitchen with the dark floors and walls. Just what I wanted. ; )

So if you're itching to change a little something in your home, go for it! It's amazing what just a different paint color can make.
Team tennis is in full swing! Tonight I played with one of our captains Cindy. Love playing on spring nights. ; ) So thankful for my team!

How precious are your thoughts concerning me, O GOD! How vast in number they are!

Reagan's 1st Birthday Party

Today we went to this cutie pie's birthday party. She is such a happy baby. Always smiling!
Of course Shannon did an amazing job. I'll let her share all the details. ; )
Colson was a bit cranky so this is how he spent most of the party. Playing with my phone on the guest bed.
Reagan dug into her cake just like she should! It was great. Zach loves his cousin but wasn't about to get too close to her. So funny!
We love you, Reagan!

Trust in the Lord with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths.

Jesus Loves Me

The other day Colson started singing "Jesus Loves Me," and I'm so glad he let me catch it on my phone!
I know it blesses Jesus SO much when He hears our little ones singing praises to Him. I just keep watching it. ; )

I assure you: Whoever does not welcome the kingdom of GOD like a little child will never enter it.

Gray

*Right now I use Blend Paste for Colson's hair, but I'm not crazy about it. I've used Axe Wax before, and I liked it better. ; )

The painters are coming tomorrow. Yea! Zach's walls have looked like this the past few weeks.

We've decided on a gray for his room. It's crazy how many shades there are! I found several samples I liked and compared them on the walls. I wanted a true gray that didn't look blue or lavender. I went to Zach's room several times throughout the day to check on the colors and see what I liked best. Ha!
We narrowed it down to two (Sherwin Williams March Wind or Mindful Gray) and decided on March Wind. It's the middle color above. I hope I like it! I'm so excited about lightening up his room.
This afternoon the boys got out the waterhose. The first of many many times this spring and summer. Of course Zach didn't get a drop on him, but Colson was drenched. ; )

And my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of His glory in Christ Jesus.

Drifters

My life has become consumed with little cars. Well, not really consumed but cars of all sizes are kind of a big deal at our house. ; )
These little guys are called Drifters. We started with three at Christmas and now have sixteen. We know each of them by name. One or two is usually missing and it drives me crazy! They always show up though. ; )
Colson's goose egg is much better, and it doesn't bother him one bit. I don't think it ever did! It still looks pretty bad and he may have two black eyes soon. Hopefully not!
Sweet brothers
The big Finn McMissile is a normal size Hot Wheels car. This is just to give you an idea of how small Drifters are. The crazy thing is they make something half their size called Squinkies. Oh my!

I'm so glad it's April! Hope you're having a good weekend!

You discern my going out and my lying down; You are familiar with all my ways.

Easter Sunday

Back to Easter! Colson's bruise looks a little better today, but it's more spread out into his eyes. Bless him!

Yea it's April!
My parents spent Easter with us at our house this year. I loved staying home. My mom whipped up Sunday lunch like it was no big deal. I do this in my dreams. ; ) Delicious!

Don't you love Zach's Easter shoes? Ha! This was a battle I decided not to fight, and it's just real life.
My handsome men & me
Little loves
Silly boys. Shannon, Cody, Westin, & Reagan ate lunch with us.

Sunday afternoon we dyed Easter eggs. We've never done this before with the boys, and they loved it.

Everyone had their own egg, so we took Reese's hers along with some others.

Sunday morning our paster said, "Death is a temporary enemy for Christians." Love this! Yes, absolutely death is our enemy and at times seems permanent, but it's NOT! Death and sin will one day be defeated and Christ will reign in victory forever. Because He lives.

This hope does not disappoint, because God's love has been poured out in our hearts through the Holy Spirit...

My Bruiser

We used to call Zach Bruiser, but Colson has officially taken over this name.

I was going to post about our Easter Sunday today, but that will have to wait until tomorrow.
This is how our day began.

Zach and Colson were upstairs playing, and Colson started crying. I just thought they had gotten too rough which is completely normal. As they came downstairs Zach was saying, "It's getting bigger! It's getting bigger!" About this time I saw Colson's face.

I really try to stay calm with the boys, but this took me so by surprise I screamed. Just a little though because I knew I had to act quickly and didn't want to scare the boys.

I was still in my pjs so I threw on some clothes, called Jason and drove to our pediatrician's office.
He checked out fine, just has a big goose egg. No concussion. Just one scared mama. He did perk up, but we took it easy all day. Our pediatrician said he could have bruising and blacks eyes for up to three weeks.
Shannon said he can't catch a break, and it's so true! I took him back to the doctor on Friday (this time a specialist) about his foot. He's ok, but I want to make sure I'm doing everything I should be doing. I can already tell a big difference in how he's walking and running.
Zach drew a picture of Colson with his "boo boo." Makes me smile. ; )

But God chose what is foolish in the world to shame the wise; God chose what is weak in the world to shame the strong.
