Footloose & Fancy-Free

Thank you for all your sweet anniversary wishes! Z is spending time with his grands for a few days, so Jason and I are spreading out our anniversary fun. Eating out, snowcones and late movies. ; ) I'm also getting so much done on my "before Colson is born" list. Hopefully he'll be here TWO weeks from today. We're ready, anxious, hopeful, scared and so excited all at the same time...

Thank you Gran and G-Daddy for playing with Z this week. ; ) I know he is loving every minute, and you are definitely not lacking any entertainment. I miss my little man!

For our anniversary, Jason and I flew to Gaston's. It's a fishing resort I grew up going to with my family. My dad and I love to fish, but I don't like to eat fish. Ha! Jason had never been there so it was special to go together.
The flight was about 30 minutes, and we landed on the grass runway. The trees were a little too close for me. It was the first time I had been nervous when Jason touched down, but he did great. ; )
Ahhh...brings back such memories from when I was a little girl. Everything is still the same. The restaurant, the docks, the cabins. We can't wait to take Zach and Colson when they are older. The funny thing is it will be me in the boat with them! Jason doesn't like to fish, but I have a feeling I'll need him to bait the hooks and do all the yucky stuff about fishing my Dad used to do. ; )

Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to GOD.

  1. Ummmmmmmmm, Jason doing "yucky stuff"?? Baiting a hook?? This I've GOT to see! As I remember, I was always doing the gross stuff for him. He would shoot the birds and I would have to get them ready to cook.

  3. Katie,

We do not know each other but I have enjoyed reading your blog. I found it througha friends blog and became hooked. I have never commeted before but I must say this post was so funny because I share a special bond with my father and we love to fish together. However I do not eat fish and my dad does all the baiting and yucky things. Your family will be in my prayers as the birth of your new little man grows closer. Angie

  5. That looks like a really relaxing place! Also, that is my absolute favorite verse. It got me through the horrible year of 2009 when there was much uncertainty about our lives and careers. I must have repeated it to myself at least twice a day!

  7. I've never commented before but I love to see your family go on these little trips. My husband is a pilot as well and I love when he flies us different places, although it has been awhile since he has done that. Praying for you and hope these next 2 weeks you can finish preparing for Colson!

  9. Looks like you had a great time! I am not much of a fisher, but I have great memories of my Grandpa taking me fishing with him when I was growing up.

  14. I've been keeping up but have been bad about leaving you comments :) I'm so excited that Colson is almost here! The Lord is with you and will protect that baby boy throughout his life. I love knowing that about our kids, don't you? He loves them worlds more than even we do...

On a totally different note, my husband is a pilot too and I've told him I'd never go with him-I'm terrified-I know, I know, "but you married a pilot," I'm not very brave about airplanes. Maybe I should get over it? Ha. I've tried for years and years. I'm praying about how I can get over it while also not embarassing him terribly. He flies for Delta and on more than one occasion I've hugged the pilots on our flight and thanked them for landing the plane safely. He says that's his job and the pilots aren't surprised like I am when we land safely. I'm his worst nightmare :)
