Something very special to me concerning Reese was torn apart. Zach didn't do it to be mean, but he gave it to Colson who ate it and pulled it apart. I was devastated. All I could think was how many toys we have scattered throughout our house that are Zach and Colson's and one thing that was important to me was gone?

Just like her.

I texted a few of my prayers warriors, and one responded, "I don't know what broke, but save the pieces. My sister in law has made some neat things out of special broken things."

Save the pieces.

Those words spoke to me, and I thought about them all day long. I compared the broken pieces to the pieces my heart.

Pieces of pain, tears, frustrations, anxiety, confusion, hopelessness. Pieces that over two years later even I don't understand. Pieces that don't fit together the way they used to, but maybe just the way GOD intended them to.

Are the pieces even worth saving? He says they are.

Can the LORD put my heart back together? He is.

Can He fill me with joy, faith, hope, and peace where only emptiness and questions remain? He promise is yes.

Reese is gone, and she is with my Heavenly Father. My heart is broken, but He is my Healer. He is faithful, and I choose to trust Him.

With all my broken pieces.

Why are you downcast, O my soul? Why so disturbed within me? Put your hope in God, for I will yet praise Him, my Savior and my God.

Pictures, Weekend & Recipe

Lisa took Colson's 18 month pictures a few weeks ago and has a sneak peek on her blog. She did a wonderful job as always! Colson was a bit of a disaster that morning so I was really worried. His hair was crazy, and he was just not happy. That's life though, right? ; )

Z has loved having Jason and me to himself, and whenever I ask if he misses Colson he says, "No" although I know deep down he does. ; )

He was all smiles this morning before church. I've had a fun weekend lovin' on my little man.

For all your bread lovers out there, here is my mom's homemade bread recipe. Delicious!

2 cups milk
1 cup sugar
3/4 cup Crisco
2 pkg. yeast into 1/4 cup lukewarm water

Heat enough to melt shortening. Pour into crock and add 2 cups cold water. When lukewarm, pour in yeast mixture and add enough flour to make batter (around 6 cups).

Let rise (45 - 60 minutes)

Add to first mixture -
5 tsp. salt
1/2 baking soda
1/2 baking powder

Combine and add a little flour (1/2 cup). Stir well and add enough flour to make stiff dough (1 to 2 cups of flour). Put a couple of large mixing spoonfuls in each greased pan. Let rise.

Brush with melted butter. Bake in oven 350 degrees for 30 minutes. Turn down to 300 and bake for 20 - 25 minutes. Makes 3 to 4 loaves.

Coffee & Flat Irons

I love trying out new little coffee drinks in the winter. There is just nothing like it! Yesterday I tried a white chocolate mocha. I don't like actual coffee, but I love flavored cappuccinos. It's crazy.

I will absolutely post my mom's bread recipe, but I want to share something else first.

When several of my friends started using flat irons forever ago, I thought I didn't need to try it because my hair has always been so flat. Which was fine with me. ; ) I had alopecia as a little girl, so I'm really thankful just to have hair.

I also didn't have time to mess with one, had no idea where to start looking, and didn't care enough to spend the money on it. I bought a cheap one to put a few waves in my hair sometimes but that's about all.

BUT I do love when my stylist uses one when I get my hair cut.

So...when Brian from Hana asked if I would review the Titanium
1.5" flat iron I said, "Yes!"

I was surprised when it came in the mail. There were all sorts of goodies in the box like two cases, a towel, lip gloss, bath petals, hand sanitizer, shine shield, a brush and a few nail files.

I love it and use it everyday. It takes very little time to do, which is good for moms since we don't have much extra time anyway. ; )

Hana has a top 10 Best Flat Irons list and sells curling irons and hair dryers, too.

Brian has been wonderful to work with and I'm happy to recommend Hana products to anyone.

I'm loving that my mom came for a little visit...

All About Z

I want to remember what Zach is like at this age and what he is up to. He is always saying and doing the funniest things. The grandparents may be the only ones who care about this post!

I still can't believe he is four. He has Jason's long legs and a killer smile. He has a tender heart, and he's working on consistently sharing and being sweet to Colson. ; )

Every morning when he wakes up he has to get out of his pjs and put on his play clothes. I have no idea why it's just what he likes to do! He does this by himself before he ever comes downstairs. He usually picks out a green shirt. ; )

He then sneaks downstairs and tries to scare me. I'm usually in the bathroom getting ready and even when I hear his little footsteps he always makes me jump.

Most days he asks me, "Where are we going today?" or "What's the plan?"

One day he saw me writing in my calendar (a Momagenda...love it!), and said, "Does that book tell us what we do?"

On the way to school or Bible study or the gym he eats a granola bar because he usually sleeps so late there is not enough time to eat at our house.

Whenever we leave the house he has to take one or two or five things with him. He usually picks out cars and puts them in his pockets.

He only naps once or twice a week now (sigh...but we've had a great run so I'm not complaining!), but he goes to bed easily around 7:30. Our nights are much more calm. ; )

He does get shy sometimes when we are in public, and he's like a different kid! He will hide beside me until he warms up.

I love watching him give Colson one of his favorite toys to play with.

I love seeing when he stops himself before getting upset and rephrases what he wants or needs.

I love that he wants me to still hold him.

I love that he is talking more and more about his sister Reese.

Z and I have some of our best conversations in the car. Recently he told me while I was driving that he wanted to fly to the moon in a rocket ship one day. This led to us talking about flying and how angels fly and why it's dark at night and why we can't see Heaven.

He then asked me if Jesus and Reese could fly, and out of no where he said, "Jesus carries Reese." I guess he was thinking if Jesus could fly then He must carry Reese since she is a baby. Just hearing his little voice say this was the sweetest thing.

I love that he is connecting his sister to so many things, and I love talking with him about her.

The link to Reese's story is up, and I'm so happy. It just feels right and hopefully will clear up some questions about our daughter. My prayer is that our family can shed some light on what it's like to lose a child and the hope we have in Christ.

First Day Back

I love Christmas break, but I also love routine with a little flexibility. ; ) The boys started back to school today, and everyone was excited about it.

the Cotton Bowl

We went to the Cotton Bowl with my family and had so much fun! It was a fast trip with very little sleep, but that's just life right now. Lots of laughter though!

One night I found my sister wandering around her house with blankets looking for somewhere to sleep. Colson slept in her closet, and I had been up with him. Bless her heart!

Abby and Z were joined at the hip pretty much the entire time. These two are a mess.

Abs was so sweet with Colson and let him "drive" her around.

Z got his first haircut by someone other than Jason in years. The woman did a wonderful job and there was all sorts of entertainment to keep him still.

Cheap Entertainment

I still can't believe it's January! Oh my goodness time just flies. I'm actually liking the colder months better than I normally do. The sunshine makes a big difference. ; )

I took the boys to Lewis and Clark recently to return some shoes we bought for Z. I hesitated taking them with me, but it was just one of those things I had to do. They were wonderful, and you would have thought we went to Disney World.

The tents, boats, stairs, mirrors, fountain, you name it and the boys were in awe. It's like we had never taken them anywhere. Well, I don't...at least by myself to stores like this where they can easily dart away. Too stressful! It's like herding cats. ; )

We had a fun time, and I'm sure we made the employees' day (when we left!).

We had a relaxing weekend. So nice! All of our Christmas is put away, and I'm thinking the winter months will bring lots of snow for the boys to play in. I can already see the layers and layers of clothes all over the kitchen and laundry room. : )

Friday night we took the boys to a pet store and Sam's. We lead exciting lives! Ha.

Saturday was beautiful so we spent the morning outside at a park. Z loved finding all the trails by the lake.

Everything was so new to Colson at the playground. He's getting so big!

I can't believe it's January 1st. I'm excited about a new month and fresh start to the year. GOD is working, and I'm so thankful He's faithful to His Word. Always.

Fall Fam Pics

We had some family pictures taken in the fall, but I didn't want to share them until after Christmas since we used two on our card. I was excited because I bought a one hour photo session through our local daily deals. I thought why not try it out just for fun?

We brought one of our sitters along to help with the boys and get them to smile and laugh. I'm so glad we did! Our course my favorites are of the boys holding Reese's picture.

It was a beautiful fall day, and I was so relieved Z did well. You just never know with kids and pictures. ; ) After we finished he kept saying, "I was so good, wasn't I? I was so good!"

Holly Jolly Christmas

We had such a fun, crazy, and busy-yet-peaceful Christmas. We celebrated with both Jason's and my family and loved every second.

These two are 6 months apart and loved playing together.

Zach and Abby were inseparable. Their little conversations are hilarious. One night I was giving them a bath listening to them talk about Riley and how they really like dogs.

Zach: "Abby, you used to have a dog, right? You don't have one now, but you used to?"

Abby: "No, I don't have a dog. I've never had a dog because that's what God gave us. No dogs."

They are like an old married couple. ; )

My mom stayed home with Hunter and Colson so the rest of us could go. It was such a special night! The kids did great, but about halfway through when it was very quiet Zach said, "When is it going to be over? It's taking too long!" People around us laughed thank goodness.

I love family services because we all understand how loud and unpredictable kids can be, yet it's so important to have them worship with us.

I love matching Christmas pajamas! Even before we had kids I couldn't wait to have them all in matching pajamas. Ha! It's just another fun thing to do this month. ; )

We are having so much fun with our family and friends. It's wild with the cousins running around constantly, and I wouldn't have it any other way. ; ) I love seeing them become best friends.

I feel so many prayers too, as we celebrate another Christmas without our Reese. Thank you! We are truly blessed and feel her presence in many ways.

Santa Claus is Comin' to Town

Last night Santa dropped in at our friends Clint and Ashley's house. Z was SO excited, and Colson didn't have a clue but just loved watching everyone and taking it all in. We definitely "do" Santa at our house, but he is far from the main focus of Christmas.

When Santa left Z asked if he could see his reindeer. It caught him a little off guard, but he said he didn't bring them because they had to rest for Christmas Eve. ; )

My heart has been so heavy lately for friends and families who are really struggling right now with the holidays. This time of year can be extremely painful. Even with so much to be thankful for, people all around us are deeply hurting. My heart breaks for them.

Every holiday that passes I think about two years ago and how thankful I am it's not that time. The pain of losing a child will always be evident and deep, but thankfully not as raw. That's His grace.

I was talking with one of my best friends about Reese, and she said, "I know there are countless times when her physical presence is missed, but her spirit is very much alive in you."

She also talked about her mom who is in Heaven. "So much of her is still around and yet the part I want most - her physical presence - isn't." I could not explain this more perfectly in how I feel about Reese too.

I know she will never be forgotten. Her life has touched so many people. Her presence fills my heart and home. And one day she will fill the void inside me that only Heaven can satisfy.

I love what my parents have started doing with their Christmas cards.

Can you find the dove? She's above Zach and Jason. Her subtle presence represents Reese. Our sweet little girl has changed each one of us, and we are better because of her life.

So hug on those around you who are hurting this Christmas. We all know someone who is feeling loss in their lives. You don't even have to say a word. Trust me, they will never forget it. ; )

Our Week So Far

The past few days have been busy and fun! Sunday Jason ran a half marathon with our friend Mark. Trish and Cam met the boys and me to see him cross the finish line.

The boys went home with Jason's parents for a few days so Jason and I had some time to do things we normally don't do.

Like go to a museum. ; )

The Crystal Bridges Museum was incredible, and our favorite part was "The Wonder World" collection.

Monday we went hiking to Hawksbill Crag. So beautiful and we will definitely go back. Z would love it, and Colson will too when he gets a little older.

Last night was Jason's office party. I always look forward to this and love spending time with all of his coworkers' wives. ; )

Zach and Colson are back home, and things are settling down until next week. I pray that Jesus and all He represents this special holiday is always in the front of our minds. In the calm and the craziness. December is flying by!

Christmas Party

Last night was our small group's Christmas party. It's one of my favorite things all year! For the past few years we've met at a restaurant then come to our house for desserts and a gift exchange.

Reese's Ornaments

Do ya'll remember this frame? We used it in the pictures of our family and friends at Colson's 1st birthday party. So after two of my favorite ornaments were broken while we were putting up our tree this year, I thought of another use for it.

Instead of putting Reese's ornaments on our tree I would hang them in the frame.

Right now I keep all of her ornaments in this pretty round box.

Zach even helped me with this little project, and so far so good. ; )

I'm so thankful for how busy they keep me especially this time of year. My heart is so happy and broken at the same time. We are very blessed yet our sweet baby girl is missing.

Life might be a little crazy around here during the holidays (or every day), but I promise I did not send Z to school with his jeans on backwards. ; ) When we picked him up his teacher said he came out of the bathroom like that and hadn't let her change them back. He still looked cute though!

Yesterday it was time to let our butterflies go.

All five of them made it which kind of surprised me. Well, one's wings were curled, and it was sad but I know this happens.

Zach did a great job of releasing them. He really wanted to keep one, but I told him the butterflies had to go find their families. ; )

It really was amazing to watch them transform from caterpillars to butterflies although sometimes they gave me the heebie jeebies. Jason had to put the oranges in their cage because there was no way I was putting my hand in there.

It feels strange not checking on them anymore. They lived with us almost one month, and it became a regular part of our day. Ha! Maybe we'll do it again in the spring or summer.

Bible Study & Butterflies

My Bible study on Daniel ended today, and wow what a ride! I had no idea all the prophecy it contained and how GOD revealed it to Daniel all those years ago. What a rich book. I loved it.

The boys were all smiles this morning before we left. I can't believe they actually sat still for ten seconds. They are such messes. ; )

One of our caterpillars became a butterfly this morning! We were gone when it happened. We have three more cocoons, so hopefully we will be able to watch at least one come out. ; )

Thankfully we did not have to travel with them over Thanksgiving. I was worried about that. ; )

Friends & Trees

We had a wonderful Thanksgiving! Lots of food, fun, family, and friends. ; ) Of course lots of chaos, too. What would holidays be without that?

I was lucky enough to see this cutie along with her sweet mama. Sadie is such a doll! Laura also came over with her two precious boys Braysen and Brock. Oh my goodness I loved loving on those babies.

Just like Hil said, these girls just get me and this really is priceless! So thankful for them.

My nieces Allie and Mary helped my mom put up her Christmas tree last week. My mom overheard them talking about putting Reese's picture in the front of the tree. Then they put her rattle close to her, too. Then when they got out the angels they wanted to hang them all around her!

This means so much, and it was so simple. I love their faith and sensitive hearts.

Last night the candle lighting service we've been to the last two years was cancelled due to weather. I was sad but hopefully it will be rescheduled. It's always such a sweet service.

We already had a sitter, and our friends Candy and Kyle had asked us earlier in the day if we wanted to go to a Razorback basketball game so we took them up on their offer! It worked out perfectly.

Today we put up our tree. It's not finished yet but close! Z got the instructions out and told Jason how to put it together. ; )

A few things I want to remember about Z at this phase in his life...

1. The other day he got in trouble for disobeying. He cried and said, "You're hurting my feelings. You're disobeying God!"

Even though it was cute, I had no sympathy.

2. When I do laundry I put Zach's clean clothes on the stairs to take up wheneven we go. It tends to pile up at times, and recently Zach told me, "I'm going to get dressed on the stairs" like that's where his clothes belonged. This morning I found him there getting dressed, too. Sad but funny! It's just life. ; )

Recently our gym offered one free tennis lesson for a child and a friend, so of course I thought of Zach and Kohen. I knew they would love it!

All day before the lesson Z kept saying he didn't want to go because he didn't know how to play. I told him we would just go watch Kohen, and he was ok with that. ; ) I was a little worried though.

Thankfully, he jumped right in.

I had fun watching these two cuties, and their teacher did a great job with them.

Is it just me or do ya'll feel completely overwhelmed? Not necessarily in a bad way either. Sometimes I can be peaceful on the outside yet so anxious inside. I feel no matter how much I try to simplify our lives, it's still crazy! Ahhh just one day at a time, right? Sometimes just one hour at a time.

One of my favorite things about living in the "country" is the beautiful sunrises and sunsets we see. So peaceful. I'm so thankful we serve such a creative GOD!

Happy 4th birthday to my sweet boy!

Lately we've been talking with Zach about turning four. He says, "No, I don't want to be four! I want to be three."

We really didn't know how to respond other than to say he's right, life is much easier when you're young. ; )

So we've been telling him that even though he'll have a birthday party he can be 3 again. Minus the fits and tears and drama. ; )

He wants to be a big boy and treated like one, but he also does not want to grow up.

I really think he's got it figured out. ; )

Will Laugh for Food

When Zach was a baby, he had a cute little laugh we just loved. All the nursery workers at church knew him just from his laugh. I miss it! Now Colson does it sometimes, and I was able to catch him. ; )

He has never eaten an ice cream sandwich like this either!

It's fun seeing him walk, too. He likes to lead with his belly. ; )

Zach's birthday is Saturday, so we are taking these cookies to school tomorrow for all his little friends in his class. I wish I could say I made them, but I didn't. ; ) Aren't they too cute?

Butterflies

Jason's parents gave Zach a butterfly kit for his birthday. I have been thinking about getting him one too, so it was perfect. He loves his caterpillars and checks on them a lot to see if they are butterflies yet.

I think it will be awhile.

When we got them in the mail he really wanted to hold one. We had to explain to him how they were very fragile and needed to be left alone, and he would say, "But I'll be real real careful." He also said he needed to put toys in the container for them to play with. ; )

I'm glad he hasn't tried to do any of this while I'm not looking. I hope these five little guys make it! I'll keep ya posted.

NYC Trip

The first time we went to NYC it rained most of the time, and I got sick so it really wasn't that much fun. This trip was definitely different, and I'm so thankful. The weather was perfect!

My dad and I ran in a 5K on Saturday that was part of the marathon festivities. It was great! There were over 5,000 runners in it.

Can you believe all those people? I'm in the pink tank top. I passed them all before I finished. Ha!

My mom and I played and shopped Saturday afternoon while Jason stayed off his feet. This woman has more energy than I've ever had! She can run circles around me. ; )

We were able to see Jason at mile 24, and I was so happy and relieved to see him after he finished. So proud of you, babe!

We went to Serendipity for dinner the night of the marathon.

This dessert was Jason's motivation throughout the race. ; ) Jason, my dad, and I shared this perfection, and there was still some left.

Monday night we met Suzanne and her husband Jim for dinner. I grew up with Suz and remember her just about as long as I remember living. ; ) I don't think we stopped talking the entire night. So good to see her!

Tuesday Jason and I went to the WTC. My sweet husband likes to get his picture taken with all sorts of people. That's all I'm going to say about that!

We also squeezed in Times Square before we had to go to the airport. I did not see any celebrities, but there's always next time!

Home Again

We're back! Ah, it's so nice to be back on my computer. I've missed ya'll! Our Internet access was limited, and we also wanted to squeeze everything we could in our few days in NYC. ; )

Thank you all for your sweet words! Jason did wonderful in the marathon, and I couldn't be more proud of him. It was truly amazing to watch everyone running Sunday.

Z was awake and Colson was asleep when we got home tonight. Z was so excited, and I loved seeing his face light up when we walked in the door. He seems so much older already. ; )

It's late and I'm staring at suitcases and dirty clothes (that I'm sure the unpacking and laundry fairies will take care of, right? oh that's me) so I'll leave you with this video my MIL sent us while we were away.

Let's just say I don't think the boys missed us and probably didn't even notice we were gone. ; )

NYC Marathon

Jason is running the NYC marathon today. Just writing those words gives me butterflies. ; )

I'm SO happy and proud and excited! He has been training since the spring, so this has been a big part of our lives the past 6 months.

My parents met us here, and we are having so much fun! Last night we went to the race's pasta dinner. This city is filled with runners, and I'm hoping to spot some celebrities that are running, too. ; )

We are making a few stops to cheer Jason on, and I can't wait to see him! I just hope we can find him out of 45,000 runners. ; )

Trick or Treat

Zach and Colson made little pumpkin crafts at school. Zach painted his, and Colson's teachers made a print of his hand for his pumpkin.

Colson threw his at me, but I got over it. ; )

Monday night we went trick or treating with Westin. Colson stayed home with Jason, but he'll go next time. This is our second year to do this, and we love it! Fun memories.

Shannon and I pretty much laughed at these two guys the entire night.

My sweet son got way too much candy and even asked for water at someone's house. The nice lady gave him a bottled water. Crazy kid.

Blocktober

Last night we went to our church's first Blocktober Fest. We had so much fun! The best part was watching Zach's face. He was beside himself with excitement the entire night.

Kyle, Candy and their boys came too. Wyatt is two months older than Colson. We love having them in NWA.

Blog Friend, an Owl, & a Full House

It's been a fun crazy past few days!

My blog friend Lauren came all the way from Florida to visit some friends, and I was able to meet her for dinner Thursday night. We became friends through the blog world when Reese was born but had never actually met in real life.

I was so excited and had looked forward to meeting her for months! She convinced me to join Twitter and helped me get set up. Hillary and Niki helped too because I need a lot of it. ; )

Last night I went to our small group's pumpkin carving contest. This was at least our sixth year to do this, and it's one of my favorites. I always get so tickled seeing everyone's pumpkins.

I went the easy route this year, but this owl was too cute. I think we've gotten a little lazy. ; ) The girls would rather just talk and eat without kids than carve pumpkins outside in the cold. Ha!

Thursday Thoughts

I love hearing your hearts. Ya'll are the sweetest! Yes, life is hard enough so why add anything extra we don't need to?

This morning Zach was supposed to wear his Halloween costume to school, but he told me it was too itchy. I guess I'll be taking it back. Nothing like last minute finding another costume! I think I may get creative and use some things we already have. We'll see.

Colson also had his 15 month appointment this morning. When the doctor walked in the room she said, "Colson, did you eat your brother? Where is he?" I don't think Z realizes yet that his little brother is going to be bigger than he is.

Colson is healthy and perfect, and I praise GOD for both of our boys!

This bouncer has been a life saver since Zach was born. Even though Z did not use it for long, Colson still loves it!

We laugh because of how low it bends down to the floor. When he is not in it it sits up much higher. He just crawls right out when he's ready.

Yes, he still drinks milk out of a bottle. Don't judge. ; )

Recently I was reading an article about Hoda Kotb. She is a breast cancer survivor, and I've taken to heart a few of the things she said. I know it's random, but I thought you might like them, too.

This is one of my favorite "finds" at War Eagle this year. I've been looking for different frames for Colson's pictures, and when I saw this window it was the perfect solution.

He looks so different already. I miss his faux hawk! His hair is too long and silky right now, and I'm not brave enough to cut it short. ; ) I did love those days though.

These four pictures were taken at his "6 months" (really 8 because that's when he sat up) mark. We haven't taken his one year pictures yet because he is still not walking. So close!

Pumpkin Patch Party

Last night we took the boys to McCoy's birthday party. It was at a pumpkin patch. I love this idea! It was freezing, but we were having so much fun we hardly noticed. ; )

This was Colson's first time to wear a sock hat, and he wasn't so sure what he thought about it.

Zach found a little goat friend, and he carried him around everywhere. I'm still laughing about this! I guess they let the goats run wild for birthday parties. A baby pig got loose, too, and the kids were chasing it around. He was fast!

Zach loved this goat and tried to get me to hold him. No thanks!

Colson just took it all in.

Zach was really sweet with the goat, but I did feel sorry for the little guy. At least he was a friendly animal!

Ok, so I had no idea what jegs were, but after I said it out loud I figured it out. Ha! I bought them at a local boutique Mason's. They are really more like jeans so I like them a lot. My boots came from Warren's 2 years ago, and they are my favorite. I wear them all the time.

I'm loving that several people lately have asked me different questions about Reese. Monday in the Target parking lot I met a woman who stopped me and said, "You're Reese's mom!" It was the sweetest thing. I smiled the rest of the day.

What a fun birthday weekend! Thank you for your sweet wishes and words. I still feel young thank goodness. ; )

Friday night Jason and I went to a high school football game. It brought back so many memories of cheering at football games in high school. I also thought about how one day I may be sitting in the stands watching our boys play. A LONG time from now!

That night Jason and I flew to Osceola for my cousin's wedding reception. It's a little town in northeast Arkansas where my parents grew up. I hadn't been back there in years, and it was like walking back in time. Memories of my grandparents and all the wonderful times we had with them came flooding back.

This is my younger cousin Eugene. Growing up he was this short round pesky little guy with a mischievous smile. Now he's a grown man! I hadn't seen him in a while, and I couldn't believe how tall he was. Seeing him did kind of make me feel old. ; )

My amazing in laws kept Zach and Colson for us while we were gone. I was so happy to get home to our boys!

I had such a fun sweet time, and I love that Jason likes talking with my dad and uncle about farming and stories about my grandparents. Sometimes you just have to go back to your roots. ; )

October 15

I'm 31 (again!) today! Oh, good I'm glad we got that out of the way. ; ) We've been having so much fun these past few days, I kept forgetting my birthday was coming up. I love having a birthday in the fall.

The most important thing about today though is that it's Pregnancy and Infant Loss Remembrance Day. Yesterday at the convention centers my mom, Trish, Shannon, and I wore our shirts in honor of my little girl.

Today I honor Reese.

I'm thinking of all her little friends. I'm hurting for their families on earth. I'm wishing she was in my arms. I'm wondering what it's like to spend every day with Jesus in Heaven. I'm thankful she is our daughter. I'm celebrating the day when we are with her again.

Boots, Leaves & Squirrels

I'm so excited about Zach's little boots. I saw them at Walmart last week and snatched them right up. Usually I don't think of snow boots until mid January when the ground is covered with snow and we can't go anywhere and of course by then it's way too late. A lot of stores are just putting out bathing suits and flip flops anyway. Which is crazy.

So we are ready. Not really ready for snow, but you know what I mean. Maybe by then Colson will be walking so I'm thinking I need to go back and get him some. ; )

Walk to Remember

Today was very special.

We participated in a Walk to Remember and balloon release in honor of precious babies who are not with us. I'm so thankful Jason's family was able to come. We left Colson with a sitter since it was during his nap time.

A few funny things did happen and of course they involved Zach. When we were getting our balloons, he announced that he liked green ones (they were all purple). Then throughout the walk he kept repeating very loudly that his balloon was higher than everyone else's balloon. Really?! Thankfully no one seemed to care. He's a mess.

It was a sweet time to honor our sweet girl.

Late Nights

Last night Jason and I went to the NeedToBreath concert. Loved it! Lay "Em Down is one of our favorite songs. Ben Rector opened for them, and we really liked him, too. Both bands have such distinct sounds.

It was crazy because the tickets said the concert started at 7:30. Ben didn't begin until 8:30 and NeedToBreath didn't start until close to 9:30! That's close to my bedtime. ; ) We perked right up though and stayed until the end. It was a wonderful night.

Seeing so many college kids reminded me of our high school and college days when we had endless energy and the world was pretty perfect. Sigh. ; )

Jason's parents came up this weekend for a Walk to Remember we are doing tomorrow, so they kept the boys while we went to the Razorback game tonight. GO HOGS!

So thankful for two nights out with Jason. I thought of so many things to tell him since I didn't have two sweet little ones yelling over me. ; ) I could eat them up!

Drawers & Daniel

We have a "car drawer" in the kitchen Colson has just discovered. It's entertained Z many times the past few years. Colson likes it so much he just hops right in.

I am so excited about the Bible study I am involved in this fall. I am doing Beth Moore's Daniel study, and the first sentence in the first session spoke to me. She said, "We have an enemy who wants to return us to places GOD called us to leave."

This is the first year I have done a women's study at our church. The past three years I have been a part of a study with women from several different churches. I loved it and made some amazing friends, but I wanted and needed to plug into my own church this fall in this way.

In Daniel 3 we read about Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego and their refusal to bow down to a gold statue. Beth applied it to our lives saying, "My circumstances can bow down (to GOD), but I will not bow (to any idol)."

Something else that stood out to me was when Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego were thrown into the furnace they walked around in it.

Also the only things that burned were the ropes that held them bondage. Beth talked about our bonds and how in a trial that's something the LORD wants to free us from. The chains that hold us captive.

She ended lesson three with these words. "Our GOD is able to deliver us, Beloved. Every time! And how often He does! If ever He does not and the flames of death or tragedy consume us, it is to light a fire somewhere and in some heart that can never be extinguished. Trust Him to the death. Trust Him through the death. In the blink of an eye, we'll understand."

I just wanted to share those few things on my heart today! Helps keep them fresh in my mind. Ya'll have a good Friday. ; )

More Hog Fun

Fall is definitely the busiest time of the year for us. It's a lot of fun, and I'm just trying to "be where I am." It sounds silly, but it's so true! My college roommates and I told each other this all the time. It's easy for my mind to run everywhere else than where I am. ; )

Back to our weekend...

Several close friends live in the Dallas area, so it's always wonderful to see them when I'm there. They do my heart good.

I was so happy to meet Lydia, Ashley's three week old baby girl. So sweet. Bek is pregnant with a baby boy, and I'm so excited for her.

Laura and Brock came over to my sister's house, too. Brock is eight weeks old. He's precious.
These girls are just beautiful!

Abby & Z played hard the entire weekend. Z always wanted to be with her, but sometimes just as any girl Abby needed her space. It was too funny.

Since we don't see each other often, I think we treasure the time we have together that much more. I would be lost without my family! So thankful for them.

It's October! I love it.

This weekend was so much fun. We went to the Razorback game in Dallas for the third year in a row. My family meets there and stays at my sister's house. It's wild and crazy with all the cousins running around, and there's lots of laughing, eating, and yelling over kids.

I think this was the first game I've ever paid complete attention to the entire time. I usually lose interest at least by halftime. ; )

This is all I have in me to share tonight. We got in late last night, and there are still bags unpacked and piles of laundry everywhere. And we were only gone for a few days. Ha! I'm getting up early to go to the gym, too. Anyone want to join me? Please?

I'll share more pics tomorrow. I love my family!

So much going on and the holidays are getting close. The LORD has given me joy, and I'm so thankful. I'm hanging onto it as long as I can. ; )

Step Stools #2 & #3

Do ya'll remember this step stool?

Well, it was a bust. The legs were just a little too wobbly for Z so he never used it. I sit on it now when I give the boys a bath. ; )

So I ordered these stools from Pottery Barn for the boys. I love them! We use them all the time.

We were so excited when they arrived at our house. Silly, I know, but it's the little things, right?

Just in case you're wondering I have an update on this Peanut girl. I found out her real name, but she really does go by her nickname. She seems nice enough. I have my eye on her. ; )

Z loves sharing with Colson. In the car and at dinnertime. I often see him putting on Colson's tray whatever he doesn't want to eat. He doesn't get away with this, but of course Colson doesn't complain. ; )

My Loud Star

Zach got a star the other day at school. I think his teachers choose one star student each day. It encouraged me so much since he's been a mess lately!

This face says it all. ; )

One night he asked me why his skin was dark, and I told him that's the way GOD made him. A few minutes later while we were eating dinner he was talking very loudly, and I said, "Zach, please talk softer. Lower your voice." He said, "But Mommy, I'm loud. GOD made me loud!"

Hilarious. How do you respond to that?

Several motorcycles were parked outside of church Sunday, so we had to stop and look. Z was a little too much in his element. ; ) I love this boy to pieces, and I've never prayed for more grace in my entire life!

Pumpkin Patch

Jason's parents came up this weekend to see our soccer star play in a game. It was intense, and I think G-Daddy yelled as much as I did. ; ) I can't help it.

It rained on and off yesterday, but when the sun came out we went to a pumpkin patch. I was so happy because we have never taken the boys to a real one! I think I was more excited than they were.

Fall Flowers

When I drive the boys through the Memorial Gardens we always pass the pond first to see the ducks and sometimes turtles.

It's fun to see the turtles sunbathing on the rocks, and Z usually likes to scare them by yelling. A boy thing, I guess?

They didn't seem phased when we went this week. ; )

Z helped me with Reese's new flowers for the first time. He took it very seriously. It was so special doing this with him! I look forward to involving the boys with things we do to honor their sister.

Such a sweet big brother.

It's crazy to think that Z will probably have no memory of when Reese was born. He won't remember seeing her or kissing her. Or smashing a bow on her head. ; )

When I think about our family I don't see just the boys, Jason, and me. I see the five of us. I want Zach and Colson to see her, too.

Sweet Sign

The story behind Toaster ~ I've only mentioned this once (I think!), so I didn't think to explain... ; )

When I was pregnant with Colson, the people who work in childcare at the gym would ask Zach about his baby brother's name. He would say "Colson," but it didn't quite sound like it. ; ) It sounded like Toaster so this is what they started calling him. I had no idea about this until after Colson was several months old, and this is what they call him still. It's cute.

Shannon made me this sign for Reese's birthday. So special. I love it.

This date is Reese's birthday. I've been thinking about the perfect place for it, and my dad hung it this weekend.

I have received several emails recently about parents who have lost babies. It stirs my heart so much to know others are experiencing the depth of loss I know. Precious babies go to Heaven everyday, yet sometimes I still feel like this pain is all my own.

I'm also so humbled and honored that my sweet Reese has allowed me to meet so many people. Women who have given me hope and women who need hope. Thank you for being a part of my life!

Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer.
