Grandparents' Day

Thanks for all the ideas! I love the idea of reading one Proverb a day.

Friday was Grandparents' Day at Zach's school. Jason's parents and my mom were able to come, and Z was so proud showing them everything in his classroom. I still can't believe I have a son old enough to be doing this!

The third graders did a cute program, and Colson even lasted an hour before I had to take him out. Of course it involved playing with my phone and a sucker. ; )
This morning Z had a football game, and he kept looking over to make sure we were all watching him. It was a great fall morning to watch some football. ; )
Love this
Z and Colson are so blessed with their amazing grands!

I took Colson to get his haircut after the game, and he looks so different. It's crazy. I'll show you a pic soon!

Hope you are having a great weekend!

I will pour out my thoughts to you,
I will make known to you My teachings.

Since school started...

Zach says, "Yes, ma'am/sir" and "No ma'am/sir" more often.
His voice is raspy because I guess he talks too much. ; )
He controls his emotions a little better.
He is more helpful and understanding with Colson.
He has a new sense of confidence.

I love to see all the ways Zach is learning and growing.

We've started praying as a family before he leaves for school. After a few very hectic fit-throwing mornings, I knew something had to change. Sometimes we pray in the laundry room after we put our shoes on and sometimes it's in the car right before we leave. Nothing long or elaborate and not that the mornings are less crazy now, but our focus is different.

I want my boys to know they can talk to GOD anytime anywhere about anything, and He's always listening.

I can't believe we've been in school over a month. I say "we" because it truly is a family effort for me to get both boys out the door fully dressed by 7:45 am!

A lot of ya'll know what I'm talking about. How do you make your mornings go smoothly before school? I'd love to hear!

Then you will call, and the LORD will answer. You will cry for help, and He will say, "Here I am!"

Tuesday

Colson is into three things lately:
1. Climbing to the highest spot he can in our kitchen. Zach was not a climber so this is new to me. He just pops up on the counter when I'm cooking or washing dishes.
2. His pajamas. He wants to wear them all the time! Most of his pjs are Zach's old ones so they just take me back. Sniff sniff. ; )
3. He wants me to carry him all the time. Well, I guess this is nothing new, but now he says, "Got you, got you!" when he wants to be picked up.

Precious boy. He's healed my heart in countless ways.

See that you don't look down on one of these little ones, because I tell you that in heaven their angels continually view the face of My Father...

Are You Ready for Some Football?

Colson is thrilled!
Zach played three football games this week. Two make-ups and one scheduled. I use the word "play" very loosely. We've come a long way in just three games though!
I'm proud of him for trying something so new.
We've had to explain lots of things like not pulling your own teammate's flag. ; )
His coaches are very encouraging, and he has a great little team.

Hope you've had a good weekend! I'm excited about a fun giveaway this week. ; )

As far as the east is from the west, so far has He removed our transgressions from us.

A Star

Colson was the "star student" yesterday at school. Let me just say this boy was proud. He walked up and down the hall showing everyone his star after I picked him up. It was the cutest thing!

He also wore it this morning while still in his pjs when we dropped Zach off. Goodness me.
Colson's school ends one hour before Zach's, so we have a little extra time on Thursday afternoons. Of course I took him to get ice cream to celebrate. A boy after my own heart. ; )
He picked snickerdoodle and loved it. I'd never heard of this flavor of ice cream, but it smelled like cinnamon. I think he would like any flavor!
You can still see a little bit of pink from his swing accident on the tip of his nose and right under it.
He thought he needed to try my drink, too. ; ) We had a lot of fun just the two of us.
Last night my combo team won all 3 of our lines! It was my first win in combo so I was very excited. My partner Natalie (right of me) and I lost the first set 6-2 and then went to a second set tie break and won. In the final tie break we were up 8-5 and guess whose serve it was? Mine! Always. Talk about pressure.

It was a tough match. I kept telling myself, "It's not over until it's over" and "one point at a time." Ha!

These women are such wonderful players and sweet friends, and I look up to them so much. I'm just thankful to be playing with them. They teach me a lot. ; )
Isn't this beautiful? A woman sent this picture to me today, and it's just sunshine to my soul. She called the purple open shell "angel's wings."

Have a good weekend!

Let all that I am wait quietly before God, for my hope is in Him.

In For It

I am so in trouble with these two cuties. ; )
Jason says I have no idea what messes they will get into together when they are older. I'm not sure if I can handle it. I stress about the messes they get into now.
Through the craziness of our days, I treasure these smiles and am so thankful for two healthy boys!

Forever, O LORD, Your word is settled in Heaven.

Football or Not

*I buy Reese's flowers at a few different places...Hobby Lobby or a local store Special House Interiors.
Friday night we dropped off the boys at our church's FNO and went to the football game. Even though we lost, there's just something about high school football. Love it!
We sat with our friends Clint and Ashley and cheered for their son Chandler.

It's been raining or cloudy all weekend. Kind of nice, but Zach's football game was cancelled yesterday morning for the THIRD week in a row! There are only six games scheduled in his "season." Thankfully, there will be make-up games (plus his little team has had extra practices!).

Is it just us or it is crazy at your house on Sunday mornings? It doesn't matter how early I get up or how organized I am, all heck breaks loose right before we are about to walk out the door! Ha.

Fall is definitely in the air. I'm not sure what it is about cooler weather, but it just makes me want to make soup or bread. And eat chocolate animal crackers (a total impulse buy and now I'm hooked). ; )

...sin is crouching at the door. Its desire is for you, but you must master it.

Dads & Donuts

Jason took Zach to school at seven this morning (early!) for Dads & Donuts. Since tonight is a home football game the players and cheerleaders made it special by signing the kids' "Gold Out" t-shirts. Everyone is supposed to wear their gold shirt in support of the team tonight. I hope it stops raining!

Zach was in a very rare shy mood but wanted pictures with his favorite football player and cheerleader.

The J19 stands for Joshua 1:9. He only wanted Chandler to sign his shirt. See his signature on the top right? Kind of pitiful. ; ) Makes me laugh.

Have a wonderful weekend!

The Lord will indeed give what is good...

Thursdays

Thursday is my one day during the week both boys are in school. I adore them to pieces, but a few hours to myself is so nice. ; ) They need a break from me, too I'm sure!
Colson is really into sunglasses and shoes. Zach could care less (as long as his shoes go "fast"). Don't worry I fixed his straps. ; )
After I dropped the boys off, I went to Target. Going there is kind of like therapy. Ha! I took the plunge and bought some colored jeans. Since they've been around awhile I thought I would give them a try. ; )
I also worked on Reese's fall flowers. My mom helped me pick them out. They are still a little high, but I really like them. I could mess with them for hours to get them just right.

I met Jason for lunch at our favorite bbq place. It's one of my favorite things to do because we can actually talk! We aren't shouting over the boys or too tired after they go to bed. It's perfect.

It's been a pretty low-key week. I can't believe Zach has already been in school a month. I feel like we are just settling in to fall!

Trust in Him at all times...pour out your heart before Him.

Here Chicky, Chicky

Yesterday we went to visit our neighbors and ended up with this little guy. They raise chickens throughout the year, and Zach always loves to see the baby chicks.
Zach is always so gentle.
He was just a little proud, too.
Colson was perfectly content to watch the chicken from a distance, but Z put him in his lap just for fun. ; )
Love Colson's face!
After about 30 seconds he was done. ; )

So thankful for the simple pleasures in life with my boys!

Keep asking, and it will be given to you. Keep searching, and you will find. Keep knocking, and the door will be opened for you.

The Master

Lately Colson has been throwing some really BIG fits. It's not like him because overall he's pretty easy (which we are VERY thankful for). So I've been trying to think of something to describe him. We are not in the "terrible twos," but he's "definitely two!"

His face is looking much better. ; )
The other day I heard Zach say to Colson, "Colson, I am not the master, Mommy's the master." I have no idea where he heard this, but I like it! Smart boy.
I asked Zach what he learned in Sunday school, and he told me all about the story of David and Jonathan. It was really cute to hear his version of King Saul and how David and Jonathan were best friends. He said, "They sticked together and they never sticked apart."

Don't you want a friend like this? ; )

Hope you had a great weekend. It went by way too quickly!

From the rising of the sun to its setting, the name of the LORD is to be praised!

Aches & Pains

I had something else in mind to blog about today, but this is where we are right now so let's just roll with it. ; )
Yesterday I got a call from the Kids' Day Out director while I was at the dentist (I have a cavity! Boo). When I called her back she told me Colson had fallen off the swing and scratched up his face quite a bit. She said he only cried a few minutes and was so brave as they cleaned him up.
Bless his heart. You can't tell but there's a rash on his forehead, too. It looks much better today, thank goodness!

So my right elbow has really been hurting these past few months. I know it's from tennis, but it doesn't hurt while I'm actually playing just afterwards. And sometimes when I'm serving.

Anyway, I finally decided to go the doctor just to get it checked out. He gave me a cortisone shot and told me to keep ice on it for a few days.
When I got home after my appointment I threw some things together to keep an ice pack on. A bib, an Enfamil ice pack, a rubber band, and a stretched out hair band. The cold pack felt so good I didn't think much about it until Jason and I went out to dinner and a movie.
He told me he was embarrassed, but the funny thing is I didn't care! ; ) Maybe it's because nothing humbles you more than being a mom anyway? I don't know. I was just excited to be out on a date!

It was pretty bad, but sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do. ; ) Have a wonderful weekend!

Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others...
